GASOLINE SILVER is the electro-beatnik trio led by Ron Franklin, artist from Memphis, Tennessee. Electronic grooves mix with punk guitars, blues harmonica and the poetry of neon insomnia.
Franklin appeared on the Memphis scene with just a telecaster, voice, and harmonica. When not taking the stage completely solo, he also performed with garage bands, blues singers, fife-and-drum bands-- and, briefly, in the last incarnation of Love with the late Arthur Lee.
Soon after, he released the acclaimed solo albums BLUE SHADOWS FALLING, RON FRANKLIN and CITY LIGHTS, all within 15 months.
Now, Franklin has brought his distinctive songs and slide guitar into a new world-- beyond the traditional...
Following the Mississippi River up to Minnesota, his vision became the band Gasoline Silver -- subterranean wordplay scored with electro-psychedelic soundscapes and biker-movie guitars. Onstage, analog synths and industrial drums have joined the doo-wop melodies and slide-guitar feedback.
The self-titled debut from Gasoline Silver has been described as "modern-electro punk" (Gaper's Block) that "cultivates everything cool in American music" (VenusZine). Buzzine hailed both band and album as "an authentic framing of its world and its time, and so, in effect, it will remain timeless."
The album GASOLINE SILVER is released by Victorian Pictures along with live-in-the studio videos for "Indianapolis" and "It's All Over but the Cryin' ".
